The reason why this blog was created was simple, to educate people on what a true pit bull is and to educate people to keep things like BSL from being enacted, children and pets from being needlessly attacked, and innocent dogs being put to sleep.
What Is A Pit Bull?
No matter what anybody…
This is the stupidest shit I’ve ever seen. Pit bull doesn’t mean what it used to. It means any bully breed or breed mix. And red nose/ blue nose now refers to coloring. Yes you can have a red nose pit bull, regardless of lineage. No you won’t have the specific breed you mentioned, but that’s not the fucking point.
There’s a reason Apbt and Amstaffs have specific names names vs pit bull.
That’s like saying “oh you can’t call your black masked, med hair dog a shepherd/shepherd mix because he’s not a GSD.”
Pit Bull does indeed mean “what it used to”, what it “used to” mean was American Pit Bull Terrier, the word “Pit Bull” itself “used to” mean the dogs were fought in pits.
The American “Pit Bull” Terrier is still fought in pits, and thus, the word Pit Bull still means American Pit Bull Terrier - a dog breed fought in dog-fighting pits.
When we apply it to mean any dog that looks like an American Pit Bull Terrier, we are re-enforcing BSL, which if you don’t know - holds the exact same definition as you do:
When you call your mix a “pit bull” because he looks like one, you’re putting a target on your dog’s head, you are giving the city/county/state permission to take your dog away and give it a needle, simply because you CANNOT swallow your pride and admit your dog is not an American Pit Bull Terrier.
"Red nose" and "blue nose" is a marketing tactic used by backyard breeders to make their dogs seem special. "Red" and "blue" are simply coat colours, and because more and more people are catching on that their "pure bred blue nose pit bull" is actually just a blue-coated American Bully, the backyard breeders are finding new things to fawn over - their most recent one is marketing "chocolate" dogs. Chocolate is brown. They’re trying to sell brown-coated dogs for double the price, and people like you buy it hook, line, and sinker.
"There’s a reason Apbt and Amstaffs have specific names names vs pit bull."
Right? Like American Pit Bull Terrier vs American Staffordshire Terrier?
If you own a dog that looks like a GSD but isn’t purebred, you should not call it a purebred GSD. That’s what “pit bull” owners do, by looking at their mixed-breed shelter dog and calling it a “pit bull”, they’re falsely labeling their dogs as American Pit Bull Terriers. Either way, they’re getting dogs killed.
This is why shelters in areas where BSL is present try to AVOID the term “pit bull” now because they realized that if they do use that term, the city requires them to put that dog down. Now they call them “mixes” or “Boxer mix”.
